Syracuse, NY  May 18, 2002
The first RoadsideFans Get-Together convened at Stella's Diner for huge portions of tasty food and plenty of talk about diners and other roadside attractions.

After lunch, our group did what RoadsideFans like to do best: hit the road in search of roadside delights, led by Syracuse residents Susan Germain, Bob Schulz, and Kathy Stribley. These photographs show the places we visited in the order we visited them. After Domenico's, part of the group left to go shopping, while the others continued with the tour concluding with a dessert stop at Riley's, an inviting neighborhood pub.

Stella's Diner (Bixler), host to the event.

UPDATE: Stella's Diner has moved to a new on-site building at 110 Wolf Street. This Bixler diner at 913 Wolf is now Serpico's Diner.

RIGHT: Heid's Hot Dogs. "Food you'll like."
A building you'll like, too.

Doc's Little Gem Diner (Fodero.)
LEFT: The Niagara Mohawk Power Company building, an Art Deco masterpiece.

LEFT: Syracuse City Hall. City workers have a diner right across the street, the Miss Syracuse, above (Bixler.)

Domenico's Italian American Diner. Behind the green facade, there's a 1940s O'Mahony.
UPDATE: This diner was demolished in February 2004.

The Redwood Diner (Ward and Dickinson.) Mike Engle, the "Mayor of Silver Creek," rates this one "4 Drools."

Mother's Cupboard Diner and Fish Fry (on-site.) Inside the door you'll find a blackboard listing "Mom's Rules:" sit up straight, elbows off the table, etc.

This used to be a White Tower Restaurant, but somebody repainted it red. Yuck!!!
UPDATE: This building is now beige with black trim and is doing business as Lotsa Pasta.
